Power Savers Mid-Atlantic FAQ
Power Savers Mid-Atlantic is a voluntary program designed to reward you for reducing your electricity use during periods of high demand for electricity, while helping the environment and reliability of the electricity grid.
Participants agree to brief, limited events which adjust their thermostats during peak electric demand periods that may occur year-round on weekdays and weekends. You can anticipate at least one event per season. Peak demand periods typically occur on particularly hot afternoons, or particularly cold mornings or nights.
Residential electricity customers in Ohio and Illinois in eligible electric utility service territories who have installed a qualifying connected thermostat controlling their central air conditioning system and/or electric heating system are eligible.
Participants will receive a chance to win $10,000 for enrolling, and for each time they participate in a temperature adjustment event, by being automatically entered into the “$10,000 Power Savers Rewards” sweepstakes as described below and in the program Terms and Conditions and Official Rules of the sweepstakes.
To be eligible to enroll, you must:
Be a resident of Ohio or Illinois with an electric utility account in an eligible electric utility service territory: ComEd, Duke Energy Ohio, or AEP Ohio
Use a qualified internet-connected smart thermostat.
Allow the program to make brief, small thermostat adjustments on days of high energy demand.
Connect your utility account via our partners Voltus and Arcadia.
If you have an existing eligible thermostat, please select your thermostat among the eligible models. Then, click the Enroll Now button to go to your thermostat’s enrollment site, where you will follow a series of simple steps to enroll.
If you don’t have an existing eligible thermostat, please choose a qualifying model, purchase and install it. Once you have installed and activated, come back to enroll your new thermostat in the program.
If you are a customer of ComEd, Duke Energy Ohio, or AEP Ohio, you will receive an email requesting connection to your utility account following the submission of your application. Once you have successfully connected your utility account and your eligibility is confirmed, you will be enrolled in the program. You will receive notification on your enrollment status via email using the address provided in your account registration.
Click the link in your confirmation email to go to your utility’s login page.
Enter the username and password for your utility account.
For ComEd customers only: You must have Two Step Verification disabled in order to ensure a stable data connection. If Two Step Verification is turned on, you will become ineligible for program participation.
Once the connection is successful, you will receive an on-screen message confirming that authorization is complete.
To comply with program rules, Power Savers Mid-Atlantic is required to provide electricity usage data from the utility meter when registering your home for demand response programs. We use this information during the annual registration period, as well as throughout the program season after each demand response event to demonstrate performance to the grid operator.
